❦Clay Coloured❦

Bleak and bland, a bothersome blight.

Black redstart

Finely whittled facsimile of a redstart,
tail end painted dull crimson
and body is a dusty black, perhaps even slate.

When placed on a well-groomed lawn
there is little to be said on its authenticity -
to whoever sees it, it is a bird.

The only thing to give it away as a non-being
is its lack of hiss and rattle,
and how those ashen hues fade in the rain.
